A Western Fair Photo Travels from London to Rome - and Back Again!

Sometimes, the best Western Fair stories start with a single photo. 

In the lead up to the 2026 Western Fair in London, Ontario, we shared a photo of a couple as part of our celebration of Seniors Get In Free, thanking Cascades Casino London and OLG for supporting the initiative.

The post was meant to spread the word about Seniors Get In Free and make sure our community knew about this way to enjoy the Fair. What we didn’t expect was for the photo to travel all the way to Rome.

“I know them!”

Not long after the photo was posted, the comments started rolling in. People recognized Claudio and Carmen. They called them by name, complimented them and shared how familiar their faces were around the Fair. Then we learned something that made the story even better: Claudio and Carmen don’t have social media. Their family does, though. A relative in Rome happened to see the Western Fair post, recognized Claudio and Carmen immediately and called Claudio to tell him about it. A photo taken at the Fair in London had made its way across the ocean and landed on a family member’s screen in Rome! And that wasn’t the end of the story. From London to Rome - and back to the Fair After hearing about the post from his family, Claudio called our team to share what had happened.

It was one of those moments that reminded us that the Fair is about so much more than the rides, food, music and midway. It’s about people. It’s about the traditions that bring families back year after year. It’s about recognizing familiar faces. It’s about the stories that continue long after the gates close.

So during the Fair, we printed the original social media post and gave it to Claudio and Carmen as a little keepsake.

The Fair is made by the people

For generations, the Western Fair has been part of life in London and across southwestern Ontario. Every year, thousands of people walk through the gates with their own traditions, memories and stories. Some stories are big. Others are as simple as recognizing a familiar face in a photo. But they’re all part of what makes the Western Fair feel like home.

Claudio and Carmen’s story started with a social media post. It ended with a printed photo in their hands - and a new Fair memory to take home.
