Western Fair District is proud to announce a major milestone in our ongoing partnership with the City of London—one that will expand access to recreation and sport while bringing new energy and purpose to our grounds.

Following City Council approval, Western Fair Association and the City of London will move forward with the redevelopment of the arena of the J-AAR Expo Centre into a three-court gymnasium and multi-sport facility. This project represents a significant investment in our community and reinforces our shared commitment to creating spaces where people can connect, stay active, and thrive.

For more than six years, this vision has been in development. What began as a conversation has evolved into a transformative partnership that will deliver a first-class recreation facility while extending our relationship with the City for decades to come.

As London continues to grow, so does the demand for accessible indoor recreation space. This new facility will help meet that need, supporting a wide range of court-based sports including basketball, volleyball, pickleball, and badminton. Designed with flexibility in mind, the space will also accommodate programs, events, and rentals for all ages and interests.

The project makes strategic use of existing infrastructure within the J-AAR Expo Centre, including stadium seating, accessible washrooms, parking, transit access, and concession services, allowing us to efficiently bring new life to an established facility.

This initiative builds on a strong history of collaboration between Western Fair District and the City, including the successful operation of the Western Fair Sports Centre. Together, we are delivering a high-impact solution that expands recreation opportunities while maximizing existing community assets.

Beyond recreation, the facility will support tourism, local economic activity, and community well-being, further strengthening the Western Fair Association’s role as a gathering place and a driver of connection in London.

Design work will begin immediately, with construction anticipated to start later this year. The facility is expected to open in early 2027. We look forward to sharing more updates as this exciting project progresses.
