The Community Engagement Manager plays a key role in strengthening Western Fair District’s connection to the community. From volunteer programs to signature initiatives like the Annual Fair, you will develop and lead strategies that enhance relationships, elevate guest experiences, and deliver tangible social impact.
What You’ll Do
- Lead the development and execution of the annual Community Engagement Strategy, including goals, KPIs, budgeting, and reporting
- Ensure community initiatives align with Western Fair District’s strategic priorities, purpose, and values
- Provide performance insights, updates, and recommendations to senior leadership
- Act as a visible community ambassador, building relationships with municipal partners, District 13, Day of Dreams, and sector organizations
- Develop and grow strategic partnerships that promote inclusion and expand community impact
- Lead outreach initiatives that engage culturally diverse and new Canadian communities
- Oversee the Volunteer Engagement Strategy, including recruitment, retention, recognition, training, and ambassador development
- Establish service standards, policies, and training programs in collaboration with internal teams
- Manage the Happy Camper and Mascot programs as year-round brand ambassador initiatives
- Provide leadership to the WFA Guest Experience team to ensure exceptional, hospitality-focused service
- Implement community feedback systems and translate insights into continuous improvement initiatives that enhance the guest journey
- Support revenue growth opportunities through partnership activations, sponsorships, facility rentals, and on-site initiatives
- Champion CRM adoption and collaboration across departments to strengthen engagement and data insights
- Ensure accurate data tracking and reporting to support strategic decision-making, particularly for the Annual Fair
- Plan and execute programming for the Community & Competitions Stage during the Annual Fair, including booking local talent and cultural groups
- Coordinate schedules, stakeholders, and on-site logistics for community programming
- Represent Western Fair District at community events, boards, and committees
- Participate in community meetings and events, including some evenings and weekends as required
What You Bring
You are a strategic thinker with a passion for community and a results-driven mindset. You know how to inspire people, measure impact, and turn ideas into action.
Ideally, you have:
- Post-secondary education in Community Development, Communications, Public Relations, or a related field
- 3–5 years of progressive experience, including leadership responsibilities
- Strong strategic planning, budgeting, and performance measurement skills
- Exceptional communication and public speaking abilities
- Experience building partnerships and leading volunteer or ambassador programs
- Professionalism, sound judgment, and high personal integrity
- The ability to balance big-picture strategy with hands-on execution

Working Conditions
This is a full-time position (40 hours per week), typically Monday to Friday. Because we produce live events and community experiences, flexibility is essential. Some evening and weekend work is required, particularly during major events such as the Annual Fair.
