The Community Engagement Coordinator plays a key role in supporting Western Fair District’s community initiatives. From volunteer programs to signature activities like the Annual Western Fair, you will assist in delivering programs that enhance relationships, elevate guest experiences, and strengthen WFD’s community impact.
What You’ll Do
- Assist in organizing and delivering Community Showcase displays, booths, and programming during the Annual Fair.
- Coordinate and administer fair competitions, including prize books, entries, judging coordination, displays, and database management.
- Support year-round community projects, events, and outreach initiatives.
- Provide exceptional guest service through in-person, phone, email, website, social media, and AI-supported platforms.
- Assist with recruitment, scheduling, communication, and engagement of volunteers and members.
- Support mascot appearances, community activations, and ambassador programs.
- Assist in website updates, social media content, and digital engagement initiatives.
- Support the implementation of JOY AI for guest service inquiries and administrative efficiency.
- Help administer Authentigate systems for secure documentation, waivers, and compliance.
- Supervise and support additional guest service staff during peak periods, including the Annual Fair.
- Manage assigned community profile initiatives across WFD departments.
What You Bring
You are detail-oriented, organized, and passionate about community engagement. You can balance multiple priorities, assist with events, and support strategic initiatives with a hands-on approach.
Ideally, you have:
- Post-secondary education in Communications, Event Management, Public Relations, or related field
- 2+ years of relevant experience; fair or event coordination experience is an asset
- Strong organizational, coordination, and customer service skills
- Experience with digital engagement platforms, AI tools, or databases is an asset
- Exceptional verbal and written communication skills
- Professionalism, interpersonal skills, and the ability to build positive relationships
- Proactive, adaptable, and able to meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment

Working Conditions
This is a full-time position (40 hours per week), typically Monday to Friday. Because we produce live events and community experiences, flexibility is essential. Some evening and weekend work is required, particularly during major events such as the Annual Fair.
